So many times when I hear people talking about drug rehab they make it out to be this place, where junkies who are dirty and have no morals go, to stop using drugs. While this may be the stigma placed on drug rehabilitation and addicts that is not the truth of the people who attend drug rehab nor is it what drug rehab is about.

While drug rehabs are thought to be the place where the rejects from society go to get away from society, the truth is something spectacular is happening at these facilities. This is because it isn’t drug rehab it is “life rehab”. The disease of alcoholism and addiction is not a moral failing that causes drug addicted “mess ups” to go to drug rehab. The disease of alcoholism and addiction is a disease where every day human beings who are suffering from a physical allergy, mental obsession and spiritual malady, go to get their lives back. From the outside, those who attend drug rehab may seem like truly horrible people, but in reality they are just like everyone else. Addicts and alcoholics have mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers, even daughters and sons. They have special skills, talents and are some of the most compassionate people on the face of the earth. This is why it isn’t just a drug rehab these people attend its “life rehab”.

If you are still wondering is it drug rehab or “life rehab”? Let me answer this question for you once and for all. If it were merely a drug rehab it would get people off of drugs and alcohol and then send them on their way, drug rehabs don’t do this though. It is life rehab because at these facilities people learn how to tap into their inner resources, they begin to find the meaning in their lives, they realize their purpose, and they start to understand how powerful they are, how special they are and how much they have to offer the world.

Does it still sound like drug rehab? Or is it starting to sound like “life rehab”? I have heard multiple family members of those who attend a drug rehab facility say they wish they could go to the programs that are offered at drug rehabs.

Why would they say this? They aren’t addicted to drugs or alcohol. Family members of those who attend drug rehab say this because they realize their loved ones attended a facility that was more than just drug rehab, it was a place that changed their life not just got them off drugs. And the family members wish to change their lives in the same way that their once addicted loved one did, and their loved one did this as a “druggie supposedly attending a trivial drug rehab”. But that’s not the case the family members know their once addicted loved one changed their lives by attending a place that rehabilitated their lives not ended their addiction.

This is why it is not drug rehab, it truly and from the bottom of my heart I know to be true, “life rehab”. A drug rehab is not a place for druggies to get off drugs; it’s a place for human beings to go to find their purpose in life again. And that is something most people, even those who aren’t addicted to drugs and alcohol, miss out on sometimes.

Is it drug rehab or is it “life rehab”?
