In the News: Selena Gomez Drinking Again After Rehab Stint

www.wifflegif.com

Selena Gomez has no shame in showing the world she has resumed her partying, after a brief stint in rehab. Gomez proudly posted a photo on Instagram that shows her with a cocktail in her hand.

The caption: “Extra whip cream please! Dessert before dinner. Duh.”

It’s been confirmed that the drink she is seen sipping did, in fact, contain alcohol.

Selena Gomez and Rehab

According to several different media sources, Gomez checked into a rehabilitation facility merely a couple weeks before she went out on the town, London-town, that is, and snapped this pic.

Initially, the rehab claims were denied by the Gomez camp: Gomez’s representative did confirm that she entered The Meadows in Wickenburg, AZ on January 5th. However, no specific details as to why Gomez went in were ever given. The representative only said that, “Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse.”

Later on, however, it became more evident as to why the former Disney star went into The Meadows. “Her friends and family became increasingly worried that there might be a serious problem with Selena, particularly, her parents. The partying was, at times, wild. They wanted to help her — and they very much encouraged her to go to rehab. Others very close to her also urged her to seek professional help,” said a source.

Selena Gomez Might Be Struggling with Real Addiction

As to what Gomez’s “partying” entailed, it has been revealed that the singer/actress has been “experimenting” with marijuana as well as prescription pills, such as Xanax – a benzodiazepine, and Ambien – a powerful Schedule IV controlled substance prescribed in the treatment of sleep disorders such as insomnia. Ambien affects the brain like a benzodiazepine thus, the combination of Xanax and Ambien is particularly concerning.

What is of further concern is Selena’s behaviors and attitude toward treatment.

It is reported that Gomez stayed for only two weeks of the 45-day program and used attending the Sundance Film Festival as an excuse for her need to leave so early. For those of us in recovery, we are well aware that we must make our recovery first-priority if we are to have a chance at success in sobriety. Furthermore, it’s alarming to hear that Gomez also claimed to be “cured” after only 2 weeks and therefore chose not to return to rehab after attending the film festival. This is yet another red-flag and omen of things to come.

Another source said of Gomez seeking treatment, “It just got to a point where she needed to get out of Los Angeles, get away from ‘the scene’ and the pressures of Hollywood, to also get away from those who had, admittedly, become a bad influence on her.” If Gomez and her camp share this sentiment, then Selena is certainly in for it. Blaming circumstances for substance abuse behaviors is indicative of denial of an actual problem.

Lastly, Gomez is seen flaunting her ability to drink, seemingly without consequence. She snapped the photo of her drinking a cocktail and posted it to Instagram before leaving the London restaurant, Sketch. It’s quite worrisome that she refers to the drink as “dessert before dinner.”
