NASCAR has temporarily suspended Penske driver, A.J Allmendinger after his primary urine sample tested positive. The sample was taken at the Kentucky Speedway on June 29th, 2012. It’s NASCAR policy to not release the type of drug its drivers test positive for so as of now the substance in question is unknown. Allmendinger claims his innocence and is requesting a ‘B’ sample testing (from an independent laboratory) to prove just that. It can take up to 5 days for a ‘B’ sample test to be conducted and results give. If Allmendinger fails the ‘B’ sample test as well, he’ll be suspended indefinitely and required to complete a substance abuse program administered by NASCAR.
