In The News: Trace Adkins Leaves Rehab to Buy Guitar in Lake Worth

It seems that songwriting and playing music may be an integral part of Trace Adkins’ rehabilitation for his recent active alcoholism – the country music star left treatment in order to buy a new guitar this past weekend. Adkins visited Chafin Musicenter in Lake Worth, FL to purchase a used Martin acoustic guitar. The country star posed for the above photo with his new purchase, which was posted to the music store’s Facebook page on Saturday, January 25^th. It has been reported that the musician dropped $1,100 for the purchase of the guitar. It has also been reported that Adkins was escorted to the music store by employees from the rehabilitation center. It has been a mere two weeks since Adkins was allegedly involved in a verbal altercation with an impersonator who was singing karaoke onboard the country music cruise. Allegedly, the verbal fight came to blows and, when the cruise ship docked in Jamaica, Adkins left the ship. As a result of this, Adkins admitted that he had had an alcoholic beverage – his first in over a decade – and then promptly checked into a rehab facility in the Lake Worth, FL area.

This is not Trace Adkins’ first time in treatment. Back in December of 2002, the musician attended Cumberland Heights Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center near Nashville. He completed the 28-day alcohol rehabilitation program at that facility and, about which, said the experience was positive and something that he needed to do for himself, his family, and his career. A year prior to entering treatment, Adkins had pleaded guilty to DUI charges. A spokesperson for Adkins has confirmed that the country musician entered a treatment facility after this recent relapse in his recovery from alcohol addiction. “As he faces these issues head-on, we ask that his family’s privacy will be respected,” the spokesperson told Country Weekly. Adkins posted to Twitter: “Up here in my suite, overlooking the pools. Behave yourselves.” Adkins was headlining a country music cruise, Country Cruising, that set sail Sunday, January 12^th. The cruise also features Montgomery Gentry, Wynonna Judd, Neal McCoy and Craig Morgan and was scheduled to stop in Cozumel, Jamaica, and the Grand Cayman Islands. Adkins’ performances on the ship have since been canceled. Adkins is next scheduled to stop February 8^th in Harrisburg, PA while on tour.
